The Yield Point Approach

Understand what you're carrying.

Create lasting change.

We all carry a backpack.

Everyone carries the experiences, responsibilities and emotional pain that life has given them.

Some backpacks are heavier than others.

Every backpack tells a story.

Some rocks were placed there in childhood. Some were added later through life. Some rocks we continue to carry even though we no longer need them.

We all have a carrying capacity

Our capacity changes from day to day.

Some days the same backpack feels mangable.

On other days, it feels overwhelming.

The Yield Point

The Yield Point is the moment when what we're carrying exceeds what we can comfortably manage. â€‹What that happens, we naturally look for relief.

Why coping makes sense

Coping strategies like pornography often develop because they reduced discomfort and numbed difficult emotions. While they may provide relief in the moment, they don't reduce the weight inside the backpack.

Shame keeps the backpack closed

Shame isn't trying to punish us. It's trying to protect us. â€‹â€‹Recovery begins when we realise we no longer have to carry it alone.

Recovery isn't putting the backpack down

It's about changing your relationship with it by understanding what's inside, removing unnecessary weight, and developing healthier ways to respond when you reach your Yield Point.
